Weekly Update: Red-hot Bulls hit road

Juan Pablo Angel will lead New York as they travel to take on D.C. United on Saturday.

Built by Makita -- entered the next stage of the construction process with the start of structural steel erection. This phase begins the vertical construction on the 12.34-acre Harrison, New Jersey site bounded by 6th Street to the west and Cape May Street to the South and East. Structural steel erection began with the columns and beams that will frame the west building that houses the home and visitor locker rooms, stadium offices, three clubs, 1,116 club seats, 30 luxury suites and press facilities. In about one month, structural steel erection will begin for the main seating bowl and roof.

Over the next seven months, the structural steel will be erected to support the new dynamic form roof - a curving structure that will wrap Red Bull Arena in an elegant shell. The unique stadium roof design, which will create a distinguished identity and unique atmosphere for Red Bulls fans, will extend from its leading edge over the entire seating bowl and then curve down to the concourse, creating the dominate architectural statement of power and elegance. The roof will extend 120 feet from the last seat to halfway between the field wall and the field's touchlines, with 60 feet of the roof being translucent, letting in natural light.

GOLDTHWAITE, STAMMLER ON WARNING:

Defender Kevin Goldthwaite and midfielder Seth Stammler are on warning with four yellow cards this season. If Goldthwaite earns another caution in a MLS regular season game, he will earn a one-game suspension. Stammler can still qualify for the league's Good Behavior Incentive, meaning that if he does not earn a yellow card in the next three games he plays in, his caution total is reduced to one. He will be suspended one game if he picks up a yellow card in one of the next three games he plays.

Defender Gabriel Cichero will miss the Red Bulls' encounter against D.C. United after the League gave him an additional one-game suspension for his red card on Aug. 17 against Toronto FC. Cichero missed the Red Bulls' 3-0 win over Houston on Sunday afternoon.

Goldthwaite has missed just 81 minutes.

U-17S DEFEAT INTER MILAN, 3-1:

The Red Bulls U17's hosted the defending Italian Serie A U17 champions Inter Milan on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Lubetkin Field on the campus of NJIT. Dylan Mencia scored the opener and Giorgi Chirgadze netted the final two goals for the Red Bulls in the 3-1 win.

"It was definitely a great night to play," said Red Bulls U17 coach Paul O'Donnell. "The boys were very excited playing a top level team and every one of their players could play, but I think tonight we showed on any given day we have quality as well. The boys came to play and they were outstanding tonight. I think definitely the mentality going into this game and being focused for 80 minutes, for the full game. I think at times the competition we play is not always Inter, it's not always these top teams from around the world , but if we come focused to games and have the mentality that this is a high level game, a pro level game, it's something we have to take into the next game and continue to take that on as we move forward."

Inter Milan took the early lead in the 23rd minute when Guiseppe Angarano went down the left side and pulled Red Bulls keeper Paul Brandon out of the net inside the box and crossed it to Filippo Fracaro, who hammers the pass into the right side of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Mencia leveled the score in the 40th minute when he took a pass inside the 18-yard box and fired a curling shot that beat Inter Milan goalkeeper Di Gennaro to the right side in the 40th minute The Red Bulls took control of the game in the opening minute of the second half as Chirgadze scored his first of the match when he left-footed a shot inside the 18-yard box off a high bounce and put it over Inter Milan goalkeeper Di Gennaro into the net to put the Red Bulls up 2-1. Chirgadze scored his second of the match in the 49th minute when he unleashed a laser beam from 30 yards out on the left side and it went through he outstretched hands of Di Gennaro.

RED BULLS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO TRAIN IN YOUR TOWN:

The Red Bulls, already a community relations leader among Metropolitan New York sports franchises, is now offering a unique opportunity for local communities. The club is now accepting applications to have the team hold a training session on at a local facility. This is an amazing opportunity for local communities to have a professional sports team hold a regular season training session in their town. Having MLS stars like Juan Pablo Angel, Dave van den Bergh, and Jon Conway participating in a full training session on a local field is a chance that should not be passed up!
