USSF Dev. Academy weekend preview

Despite winter weather hitting in some parts of the country, the USSF Development Academy is scheduled to continue this weekend. Action is once again limited to the southern and western parts of the country, as the premier U-16 and U-18 players take to the field.

Sounders FC Academy remains the only MLS academy side to take part in this weekend’s proceedings. Going winless on both levels against Crossfire Premier last weekend, the Sounders U-18 and U-16 sides will look to bounce back when they go on the road to face Real So Cal in the Los Angeles area.

Another LA-based team will take on a Seattle-area side as Cosmos West welcome Crossfire to their home turf. Crossfire need to win to keep pace with Sounders on both levels in the Northwest Division standings.

Providing the weather cooperates, three strong Virginia sides will travel south to face their opposition. McLean Youth Soccer is sending their team to play four games in two days, with the first stop on Saturday at the University of South Carolina vs. South Carolina United FC, and the second stop in Georgia against Atlanta Fire United.

The Richmond Strikers will play an opposite schedule than McLean, traveling to play Atlanta Fire United on Saturday before measuring up against South Carolina United FC on Sunday.

Virginia Rush AJ Auxerre, who are atop the Atlantic Division in front of both McLean and Richmond Strikers at the U-18 level, will play Charlotte Soccer Academy on Saturday and North Meck SC on Sunday, both in North Carolina.
