US Soccer announces that USMNT will face Colombia in London on Nov. 14

Colombia's James Rodriguez

The United States men's national team will square off against Colombia in a friendly on Nov. 14 at Craven Cottage in London, US Soccer announced Wednesday.

The possibility of a clash with the World Cup quarterfinalists was first reported Tuesday after a friendly with Croatia on the same date fell through, and it did not take long to confirm.

"Colombia showed in the World Cup that they are one of the top teams in the world," said USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann in a statement. "They have some tremendous attacking talent like Radamel Falcao at Manchester United, James Rodriguez who won the Golden Boot at the World Cup and now plays at Real Madrid, Adrian Ramos from Dortmund who was one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga, and Carlos Bacca who won the Europa League with Sevilla.

"So overall, it's a squad with a lot of experience playing at the highest level, and this will be another great benchmark for us. We are thrilled to be playing at Craven Cottage, which holds so many good memories for US players. It will be a unique experience."

Craven Cottage is the home of Fulham FC, for whom a number of current and former US internationals including Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra have played. The Cottagers currently boast 18-year-old midfielder Emerson Hyndman, who made his USMNT debut in a friendly against the Czech Republic in September, on their roster.

The clash with Colombia, who are currently ranked No. 3 in the world, will be the last announced game for the USMNT in 2014. The team is already confirmed to be playing a friendly against Ireland at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Nov. 18, its final game of the year.
