Washington, D.C. - Today, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association of Football (CONCACAF) held the draw for the 2008 CONCACAF Champions' Cup, announcing that D.C. United will face Harbour View FC (Jamaica) in its first round match up. The tournament's quarterfinal series will begin mid-March, with United traveling to Jamaica for the first leg March 11-13 and the second leg taking place at home March 18-20. The winner of the series will advance to face either Pachuca (Mexico) or Motagua (Honduras) in the semifinal round.
United qualified for the 2008 tournament by finishing the 2007 MLS regular season with the League's best record (16-7-7), thus capturing the Supporters' Shield. It was the fourth time the club has captured the top regular season honor and the second year in a row. Harbour View earned a berth in the tournament after claiming the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship.

United and Harbour View have met once before in Champions' Cup play, when in March of 2005 the two teams met in the quarterfinal round. United captured a 2-1 victory on March 9 in the first leg and advanced 4-2 on aggregate following a 2-1 win in Jamaica on March 16.

In Champions' Cup play last year, United defeated CD Olimpia (Honduras) in the first round two-game series by a 7-3 aggregate score. The club was ousted in the semifinal round by CD Guadalajara after suffering a 3-2 aggregate loss. The 2008 edition of the competition will mark D.C. United's eighth appearance in the tournament - more than any other MLS team. D.C. became the first MLS team to capture the CONCACAF Champions' Cup when it defeated Mexican champion CD Toluca in 1998.

The CONCACAF Champions' Cup is the longest running international club competition in the CONCACAF region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception over four decades ago. In addition to D.C. United, Harbour View, Pachuca and Motagua, Atlante FC (Mexico), Saprissa (Costa Rica), the Houston Dynamo (USA) and Municipal (Guatemala) will also compete in the tournament. The final series will be played in late April.
