The Chivas USA Reserves took a 3-0 victory over the FC Dallas Reserves in a match played Monday morning in the Track and Field Stadium at The Home Depot Center in Carson. Ante Razov scored twice in the first half as the Red-and-White Reserves stayed undefeated and improved their record to 1-0-2 (W-L-T).
Chivas USA's forward pairing of Razov and Atiba Harris were dangerous from the opening whistle, and Harris put a shot just wide in the 6th minute after a deflected shot from Razov fell to his feet. Chivas USA had a number of good chances in the following minutes before Razov finally broke the deadlock in minute 20, taking a pass from midfielder Daniel Paladini and lofting a shot over Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse and into the net.
Paladini was the catalyst again in minute 35 for the Red-and-White's second goal. Sliding a ball through a gap in the defense, Razov ran on to the pass and slotted a low shot past Burse to give Chivas USA a 2-0 lead. Harris scored the third and final goal of the match just after halftime, stabbing home a Keith Savage cross.
Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy earned the shutout in his first Reserve Team action of the season, and made several saves to preserve the clean sheet. Dallas came closest in the 74th minute when Michael Dello-Russo's free kick from 20 yards flashed just wide of the post.
The Chivas USA Reserves now own a record of one win and two ties so far in 2008, while the FC Dallas Reserves fall to 0-1-1 (W-L-T). The Red-and-White's first team plays this Saturday 'at' the Los Angeles Galaxy before playing in Houston on May 3, and the Chivas USA Reserves will next play against the Dynamo Reserves on May 4 in Texas.
