North Carolina and Villanova will meet in NCAA men’s basketball final on Monday night, and more than a few folks around MLS will be watching with serious interest.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, UNC has put a total of 47 players in the league, with 15 former Tar Heels – including FC Dallas captain Matt Hedges (pictured above) – currently playing in MLS. Villanova doesn’t exactly have quite as deep of a roster, as only two former Wildcats – Union head coach Jim Curtin and former Sounders midfielder Mike Seamon – have ever played in the league.
