It takes many factors to make a World Cup roster – your country qualifying, talent, good health, regular playing time with your club and playing in a position of need, to name a few.

Orlando City SC defender Amro Tarek understands that well these days, as a variety of factors went into his surprise call-up to Egypt's preliminary roster. But he argues that the level of MLS helped put him on Egypt national team head coach Hector Cuper's radar.

"It is a very strong and competitive league and has a huge publicity. The fans need to grasp this,” Tarek said to DMC Sports Channel, as translated by Egypt soccer outlet KingFut.com.

Tarek, 25, has been a regular contributor to start the season with Orlando City. Currently on loan from Egyptian club Wadi Degla, Tarek said in the interview he's prepared to stay in Orlando beyond this year, as the team plans to exercise his contract option and make the deal permanent.
