  • Sounders FC won their third match in the last four, defeating the LA Galaxy 3-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park. The Whitecaps lost 1-0 to the Portland Timbers in a Whitecaps home game at Providence Park.
  • Sounders FC have a seven-game undefeated streak alive in the series, since the last Whitecaps FC win April 14, 2017, a 2-1 victory at BC Place. Seattle has won five of the seven league games in between, with two draws; Sounders FC also advanced in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2017 with a goalless draw and a 2-0 win at home.

  • The teams are meeting for the third time this season. Cristian Pavón and Sebastian Lletget each scored goals late in the second half to lead the Galaxy to a 3-2 win Aug. 29 at Dignity Health Sports Park; they reached a goalless draw Sept. 13 at Earthquakes Stadium.
