The Chicago Fire parted ways with two players, announcing on Thursday they have waived defender Kevin Ellis and midfielder Tony Tchani. While Tchani hadn't gotten extensive playing time this season, Ellis had been a regular in Veljko Paunovic's lineup prior to the move.

The Portland Timbers brought back another familiar face, announcing on Thursday afternoon the return of Lucas Melano following two years on loan, in his native Argentina at Belgrano and Estudiantes. Melano, 25, helped the Timbers land their first major trophy in the club's MLS era, the 2015 MLS Cup. READ MORE

As the official end to the window hit, the Vancouver Whitecaps announced they'd come to a mutual termination with attacker Bernie Ibini, clearing the way for a signing with UAE Pro League side Emirates Club. The 25-year-old Nigerian-born Australian international transferred from Club Brugge, but never quite caught on in parts of two seasons with the 'Caps, tallying 1 goals and 3 assists across 25 appearances (13 starts) in MLS play.


Additionally, Vancouver loaned 21-year-old forward Myer Bevan to USL affiliate Fresno FC for the remainder of the 2018 season. The New Zealand native has already collected a handful of caps with the All Whites, having scored two goals in international play.

The Portland Timbers announced their acquisition of Jorge VillafaƱa, using Targeted Allocation Money and trading up to the No. 1 allocation spot from the LA Galaxy in exchange for the No. 16 position in the Allocation Ranking Order, $75,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in 2019 TAM. The Montreal Impact added to their midfield, acquiring veteran d-mid Micheal Azira. Azira has struggled for playing time under Anthony Hudson in Colorado after making 61 appearances over 2016 and 2017. READ MORE

American Soccer Now's Brian Sciaretta reported on Tuesday that LAFC were signing US youth international Josh Perez. Perez, the nephew of former USMNT midfielder Hugo Perez, currently plays for Fiorentina in Serie A. The LA Times' Kevin Baxter and ESPN's Jeff Carlisle confirmed the two sides had reached an agreement on Wednesday. MLSsoccer.com's Sam Stejskal also confirmed the signing on Wednesday. LAFC announced the signing at 6:03 pm ET.

MLSsoccer.com's Sam Stejskal reported that former Portland Timbers left back Jorge VillafaƱa has signed a deal to come back to MLS. The US international left Portland to sign with Liga MX side Santos Laguna after winning the 2015 MLS Cup. The 28-year-old would have to go through the allocation process but his former side teased his return on Twitter.

Washington Post writer Steven Goff reported that Bill Hamid will be returning to D.C. United on a 1.5 year loan from Midtjylland. The longtime United 'keeper was unable to carve out a starting spot during his seven months in Denmark.

National reporter Kristian Dyer reported that the Colorado Rapids are trying to move striker Yannick Boli. The 30-year-old has one goal in 14 appearances with the Rapids.

D.C. United and the Portland Timbers announced the completion of their trade as left back Vytas heads to the nation's capital and $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money going to the Rose City. The news was first reported by Goal.com's Ives Galarcep on Tuesday afternoon.
