The MetroStars are proud to announce Monday that they donated a total of $8,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources (HACER). The money that the MetroStars donated is a portion of every ticket the team sold to their game vs. Chivas USA which was played on Aug. 21 at Giants Stadium.
At the game, MetroStars president and general manager Alexi Lalas, along with Ronald McDonald, presented Roberto Madan, Chairman of HACER, with the $8,000 check during a halftime presentation.
RMHC/HACER is an educational initiative that offers Hispanic students financial scholarships. RMHC/HACER scholarship awards are given to graduating Hispanic high school seniors seeking to pursue higher educations at the colleges and universities of their choice.
RMHC/HACER scholarships are limited to those Hispanic high school students residing in the Tri-State Area (New Jersey State, New York State, and Fairfield County, Conn.). Students must be enrolled in a two- or four- year college or university. Student must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage. In addition, these Hispanic high school students must be U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residents with an approved immigration status that allows them to reside and work in the U.S.
