Memorable Rivalry Moments: Alan Gordon caps epic comeback for San Jose vs. LA Galaxy | SIDELINE

It was one of the greatest single-game comebacks in MLS history, and it just happened to occur in one of the league's best rivalry games and in front of a crowd of 50,000 cheering fans.

Trailing the LA Galaxy 2-1 in the 77th minute, the San Jose Earthquakes looked done and dusted when Victor Bernardez received his marching orders for a second yellow card. But the Goonies had other ideas.

With the Galaxy just minutes from victory, Shea Salinas robbed them of the three points with an unlikely equalizer in the second minute of stoppage time. But what happened next was nothing short of amazing:

It was the second time the Quakes had come back from a two-goal deficit against the Galaxy at Stanford, and hearkened back to their 2012 Supporters' Shield run.

The Galaxy, however, would go on to win MLS Cup in 2014 while San Jose haven't enjoyed that same kind of success since. But with battle-tested coach Dom Kinnear at the helm, things are looking up for the Quakes this year, and they have a golden chance to write a new chapter on Saturday evening.
