Guadalajara continues dominance

Javier Hernandez continued his torrid scoring pace to begin the season.

Guadalajara FC are playing at a superior level. None in Mexico have proven capable of stopping them thus far in Bicentenario 2010, with Chivas having a terrific performance versus Queretaro and winning 2-0 in a game full of emotions.

After this new victory, the "Holy Herd" is still at the top of the Mexican League. Also, Chivas reached a new record after winning four games in a row. The last time Guadalajara had a three winning streak was in 1997 and 1999.

Omar Bravo (75') and Javier Hernandez (80') scored for Guadalajara. "Chicharito" Hernandez reached seven goals, making him still the league's top scorer.

America were defeated 1-0 by Atlas, with an own goal from Juan Carlos Valenzuela (57') at Jalisco Stadium. The "Eagles" are still missing Salvador Cabañas and manager Jesus Ramirez hopes were seriously damaged after the collapse. On the other side, Argentinean coach Carlos Ischia is smiling right now because his new club has won three games in a row, with an excellent job from veteran players like Mario Mendez and Miguel Zepeda.

Cruz Azul, the other of the "big four" in Mexico, could not show the shining game that put "The Blue Machine" in the last Final versus Monterrey. Last weekend, Cruz Azul lost 2-0 to Santos Laguna at Azul Stadium, increasing their slump in one goal in four games. Carlos Darwin Quintero (82') andVicente Matias Vuoso (85') were the heroes of the game for Santos.

Tigres and Pumas tied 2-2 in a game played at Universitario Stadium in San Nicolas de los Garza, Nuevo Leon. UNAM hit first, thanks to goals from Israel Castro (15') and Pablo Barrera (80'), however, Tigres responded with a couple of goals from Brazilian forward Itamar Batista in the last minutes of the battle (81' and 90').

Pachuca are struggling every weekend, but the results keep coming at the end of the day. Tuzos won 2-0 over San Luis, thanks to Ulises Mendivil, who came off the bench in the 59th minute to put the ball into the Gladiators' net for a pair of goals very near of the end of regular time. Mendivil, who played at Atlas and Chiapas before, scored the vital goals at 84' and 91', placing Pachuca as one of the best clubs in Mexico.

Monarcas Morelia took advantage of their rivals, Ciudad Juarez, who sit at the bottom of the league, and beat the Indians 1-0. Elias Hernandez scored a spectacular goal from far away (45') to hand The Tribe their 21st consecutive game without a win.

Estudiantes Tecos broke an awful five-game losing streak within league and Copa Libertadores play after defeating Chiapas 3-0 at 3 de Marzo Stadium, at Zapopan.

Jorge "Russian" Zamogilny (50') and Fredy Bareiro (65' and 82') gave the smile back to coach Miguel "Louse" Herrera. On the other bench, Luis Fernando Tena is seeing a sinking ship and will need to organize his team if he wants to keep his job.

In the last games of the fourth weekend of Bicentenario there were a couple of boring matches as Atlante tied Puebla 1-1 and the same scoreline befell Toluca and Monterrey.
