FC Dallas eager for weekend return of defender George John against Real Salt Lake

George John, FC Dallas (April 13, 2013)

FRISCO, Texas – For all the bad news lately for banged-up FC Dallas, there should be some light at the end of the tunnel Saturday against Real Salt Lake (9 pm ET, MLS Live).

Veteran center back George John is expected to return from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for the past three games, giving the club a boost in an attempt to snap a six-game winless streak.

Dallas have lost only twice in John’s 13 league starts, but they’ve won only once in the six matches he has missed.

"If you’ll look at our results with George John and without George John,” head coach Schellas Hyndman said, “that’s an indication that there’s an issue."

David Ferreira (ankle), Jair Benítez (knee) and Jackson (groin) were all held out of training to allow various ailments to heal on Wednesday, but should be available for Saturday’s game. Goalkeeper Raúl Fernández also was not at practice as he recovered from a virus, but is also expected to recover in time for the match.

Rookie Walker Zimmerman, however, has already been ruled out.
