Exports: Parkhurst shelved with dislocated shoulder

Michael Parkhurst could miss at least two weeks after dislocating his shoulder.

AMSTERDAM — Danish side FC Nordsjælland are sweating a Wednesday exam on Michael Parkhurst after the defender left Monday's loss at FC Midtjylland with a dislocated shoulder.

The former New England defender lasted only 20 minutes in the 4-0 defeat and will now wait for the swelling to subside before receiving the full diagnosis.

"It was a dislocated shoulder," Wild Tigers press officer Christian Wolny told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. "He has twice before had this problem in the States. He was sent to the local hospital, and they put it back into position. The medical staff at the club gave him the day off. He will have further examination tomorrow."

The club is unsure how long Parkhurst will be on the shelf, but it hopes a two-week pause after Sunday's match against Aalborg BK will see him ruled out of only the one league game. He will also miss Thursday's Ekstra Bladet Cup visit to third-flight Vanløse.

"In the best case scenario, we are looking at about two weeks out for him," Wolny said. "If anything is wrong with the ligament or muscles, of course, it would take longer."

Before the setback, Parkhurst had started at center back in all six of FCN's matches during the young Superliga season.
