Former Club America defender Duilio Davino talks about his signing with FC Dallas on this date:
Thoughts on coming to FC Dallas?
"In truth, very happy. I wanted to come here to Dallas and thankfully it happened. There was flexibility on both sides and we came to a good agreement. I'm very happy, and I'll be here for two years."
Thoughts on beginning a new era, playing soccer in a new country?
"I think I can assist with my experience. I know it's a difficult football style but I'll work to do things right. I'll come in and work 100 percent in every practice, every game, and hope to be able to succeed."
Thoughts on playing against former teammate Cuauhtemoc Blanco?
Yes, he's a great friend. We've played many years together, but I've already marked him, when he played for Necaxa and Veracruz. Now I'll have another chance, and I think that despite our friendship, we'll each defend our jersey, like we've always done, as professionals.
The league has continued to see players that have had success abroad come here, what do you attribute this to?
"Well, I cannot speak for them, but yes for me. It's a new experience, it's a nice project, it's a team that is growing and showing they want to do things the right way, and it's a different project, which I want to learn about."
What do you know of the city?
"I was able to get to know Frisco, obviously, downtown Dallas, other cities here nearby. Honestly it's very calm, I like it a lot and expect to be able to live well here with my fiancée."
You've had international experiences at the club and national team level. What can you bring from those experiences to a team like Dallas?
"At the end of the day, there is only one soccer in the world. I'm going to try to bring all I can in my position, which is a position I've always played and know well, and will try, based on that as well as effort, help the team."
A message to fans of what they can expect from you?
"A lot of effort. I know there are many Mexicans here, many Club America fans. I hope to win over some of their affection with my performance in each game."
And finally, a message to your future FC Dallas teammates?
"That I come to be another one among them, to mix in well with the group, and to always give my maximum effort."
