Another loan, another goal for Michael Petrasso.
The 18-year-old scored for his third team of the season on Saturday, opening his account for Coventry City in a 3-1 loss to Tranmere. Petrasso (above) joined Coventry on Feb. 14 on a month-long loan from Queens Park Rangers, shortly after returning from a two-month loan at Oldham Athletic.
Petrasso turned some heads during his time at Oldham, which may have had something to do with them signing fellow Canadian Terry Dunfield last week. The former Vancouver and Toronto midfielder made his debut for Oldham over the weekend, coming on as a second-half sub in a 1-0 victory over Gillingham.
Elsewhere in England, Simeon Jackson also came on as a late sub, but his Millwall side fell 1-0 to Barnsley, while Dylan Carreiro played the first half for QPR’s U-21 side in a 2-1 win over Swansea City.
Over in Turkey, Tosaint Ricketts got back on the score sheet for Bucaspor, scoring his fifth of the campaign in a 2-1 win over Gaziantep BB on Monday. Meanwhile, teammate Tam Nsaliwa clearly benefitted from the MLSsoccer.com bump, getting back in the lineup and playing the full 90 for the first time since a remarkable two-goal performance on Oct. 5 – coincidentally enough, also against Gaziantep BB.
Canada’s current midfield generals – Atiba Hutchinson (Besiktas), Julian de Guzman (Skoda Xanthi) and Pedro Pacheco (CD Santa Clara) – all went the full 90 for their respective clubs, while the team’s possible future midfield general, Samuel Piette, also went the distance for Fortuna Dusseldorf II in a 0-0 draw with Sportfreunde Lotte.
In the 2.Bundesliga, Andre Hainault emerged victorious in a battle of the Canadians against Olivier Occean. Hainault’s VfR Aalen nabbed a 3-1 victory over Kaiserslautern, for whom Occean played 62 minutes on Sunday.
A day earlier, Randy Edwini-Bonsu played a bit more than Occean (63 minutes, to be exact) for Stuttgarter Kickers in a 2-2 draw with Unterhacing.
Daniel Haber got on the field for Apollon Limassol for the second week running, coming on as a late sub in last Wednesday’s 1-0 Cypriot Cup win over Omonia Nicosia, while Nik Ledgerwood came off after just 40 minutes for MSV Duisburg in a 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund II on Saturday.
Down in Uruguay, striker Lucas Cavallini appears to have found a groove with Centro Atlético Fénix, playing for the fourth straight week in the team’s 1-1 draw, and going the full 90 for the first time since coming over on loan from Nacional.
