Canadian Exports: Iain Hume continues to make his mark in India; Atiba Hutchinson goes full 90 in derby

The end of daylight saving time usually marks the beginning of hibernation for many Canadians – and professional soccer players are no exception.

Yes, it was a relatively quiet week for the country's exports, but there were still some notable events – such as Iain Hume once again playing a role for his Indian Super League club, Kerala Blasters. While Hume (pictured above playing for Canada) didn’t find the back of the net himself this week, he did contribute an assist on the winning goal in Thursday’s 2-1 victory over Pune City, the first win in Kerala Blasters’ brief history.

Hume then put in another full-90 performance on Sunday, in a 1-0 loss to Mumbai City.

Speaking of full-90 performances, Atiba Hutchinson once again did what Atiba Hutchinson does – he went the distance for Besiktas on Sunday, though the club came out on the losing end of a 2-0 decision against fierce rivals Fenerbahce.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Tam Nsaliwa also put in a full day’s work for Bucaspor on Saturday, in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Antalyaspor.

Michael Petrasso, the QPR youngster, continued his successful loan spell at Notts County by going the full 90 on Saturday in a narrow defeat to Walsall, while fellow loanee Luca Gasparotto (to Airdrieonians, from Rangers) did the same in a 0-0 Scottish Cup draw at Greenock Morton.

As for Petrasso’s clubmate at QPR, Junior Hoilett, he started for the senior club in Saturday’s one-goal loss against top-of-the-table Chelsea in Premier League play.

Dejan Jakovic started and picked up a yellow card for Shimizu S-Pulse in a 3-2 win on Sunday, while fellow defender (well, he’s also a midfielder) Nik Ledgerwood came on as a sub for Energie Cottbus in a 3-0 win on Saturday.

As for strikers this past weekend, Daniel Haber (Ayia Napa) and Tosaint Ricketts (Hapoel Haifa) started for their clubs, while Marcus Haber (Crewe Alexandra), Simeon Jackson (Coventry City) and Randy Edwini-Bonsu (Stuttgarter Kickers) made appearances as second-half substitutes.

Pedro Pacheco continued his season in Portugal for CD Santa Clara with a full-90 performance against Sporting Braga II, while Ethan Gage ended his season in Sweden for Nykopings with a full-90 performance of his own in a loss on Sunday.
