American Exports: Tim Howard, Everton host EPL stragglers, Alejandro Bedoya's Nantes face Ligue 1 leaders

Tim Howard, Everton

AMSTERDAM – Several Americans will take part in key matches overseas this weekend, with Tim Howard and Everton aiming to right their Premier League ship against visiting Leicester City.
All times listed in ET.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Brad Guzan – Aston Villa vs. Stoke City (Saturday, 10 am on Premier League Extra Time)

American Exports: Tim Howard, Everton host EPL stragglers, Alejandro Bedoya's Nantes face Ligue 1 leaders -

With compatriot Geoff Cameron suspended for the visitors, Guzan will try to snap a five-game losing streak and earn the Villan's first EPL win in 11 games. The US star, who has a 2-2-2 career record with three shutouts against Stoke, can backstop the home side's first season sweep in this series since 1985. Though they're unbeaten in their last four at Villa, the Potters will also be missing Bojan Krkić and skipper Ryan Shawcross.

Tim Howard – Everton vs. Leicester City (Sunday, 9 am on NBCSN)

Fresh off a record-breaking Europa League win, Howard will look to halt the Toffees' league slide.  They have but one win in nine matches and have suffered shutout losses in the American's last three starts. The veteran netminder has yet to host the Foxes, but he has gone 1-0-1 in Leicester. The Everton injury doubts include Leighton Baines, Bryan Oviedo and James McCarthy, while Leon Osman remains out.

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA

John Anthony Brooks – Hertha Berlin at Wolfsburg (Sunday, 9:30 am on GolTV)

Following a big outing that helped temporarily lift Hertha out of the danger zone, Brooks will try to do it again against one of the hottest clubs in Europe. The defender will want to keep a faithful eye on Wolves striker Bas Dost, who has 10 goals in the his last six matches, and six in the last two. Second-place Wolfsburg, who haven't lost since falling to Howard's Everton back in November, have won six times during a nine-game Bundesliga unbeaten run. Hertha won the season's early meeting to end a series string of three straight defeats.

Timothy Chandler – Eintracht Frankfurt at Mainz 05 (Saturday, 11:30 am on MyGermanTV+)

The in-form right back has only celebrated one victory in eight career clashes against Saturday's hosts, but those all came with FC Nürnberg. His new employers hold a slim lead in their tight series with the 05'ers, with a majority of their meetings ending in draws. However, Eintracht has yet to win in 10 tries at Mainz.

FRENCH LIGUE 1

Alejandro Bedoya – Nantes at Lyon (Sunday, 11 am on beIN Sport Connect)

American Exports: Tim Howard, Everton host EPL stragglers, Alejandro Bedoya's Nantes face Ligue 1 leaders -

The US international could start on right wing against the league leaders. Bedoya has a 1-1-1 record against Lyon, but the win came in cup play. Nantes have been shut out five times during their current six-game win drought, while OL stands unbeaten in 10. The Canaries have dropped their last six at the Gerland, and have not won there in 19 years. Ligue 1 top scorer Alexandre Lacazette will face a late fitness check for the hosts.
