2007 All-Star Game

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The MLS All-Stars defeated Scottish club Celtic FC, 2-0, in front of 18,661 fans at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

Juan Pablo Angel of the New York Red Bulls, who earned MVP honors, opened the scoring for the MLS All-Stars in the 36th minute. Dwayne De Rosario fed a through ball up the middle to Angel, who side-stepped Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc before slipping a left-footed shot into the back of the net.

Juan Carlos Toja doubled the lead for the MLS All-Stars seven minutes later when he poked home a deflection of a set piece from just outside the 18-yard-box. The ball fell to the feet of the Colombian, who, like Angel, was making his first MLS All-Star appearance in his first season in the league, before he sent a left-footed shot into the lower right-hand corner of the net.

Despite two disallowed goals, Celtic was never able to get on the scoresheet.

The win marks another All-Star game victory for the MLS, giving them a perfect 4-0 record against international competition.
