Inter Miami to host LA Galaxy in inaugural home MLS match on March 14

Inter Miami home opener - November 13, 2019

Inter Miami CF on Wednesday announced the details for their first-ever home match in Major League Soccer, revealing that they will host their famous co-owner David Beckham’s old team, the LA Galaxy, on Saturday, March 14.

Marking MLS’s return to South Florida after a near-two-decade absence, the 2020 expansion debutants' home opener will kick off vs. the five-time MLS Cup champions at 2:30 pm ET at Inter’s temporary new home in Fort Lauderdale.

“Futbol is not a sport, it’s a lifestyle. What we are bringing to South Florida on March 14 is a club that unites fans and visitors from all over the world together for the love of the game,” said Jurgen Mainka, Inter’s chief business officer, in a statement. “This is a historic day that our community has waited for, and we look forward to experiencing it together.”

Pre-sale access to tickets for the match are now open at intermiamicf.com/tickets/home-debut; the only way fans can guarantee their seat and be part of Inter’s opening day is by joining the season-ticket priority list today. The full 2020 MLS schedule will be announced at a later date.

Inter Miami will play at their new 19,000-seat Fort Lauderdale Stadium for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, and are also constructing a state-of-the-art, 50,000-square-foot training facility for their first team and academy programs at the same location, on the site of the former Lockhart Stadium, where the Miami Fusion played from 1998-2001.

The Fort Lauderdale venue will serve as the home of Inter’s USL League One side once the first team’s permanent home is completed as part of the Miami Freedom Park project near Miami International Airport.
