FC Dallas need four points to make playoffs thanks to Decision Day scheduling

Zdenek Ondrasek - FC Dallas - Point

On Wednesday afternoon, as FC Dallas sat home while both the San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers played that evening, the vibe around the training ground was simple: They needed two wins from their final two games

But after the Timbers tied New England 2-2 and the Quakes lost to Philadelphia 2-1, the math has changed a bit. Two wins would do the job for FCD, but six points are not necessary.

Thanks to Portland hosting San Jose on Decision Day presented by AT&T, Dallas need just four points from their final two games to make the playoffs. FCD sit tied for sixth place on 45 points with the Timbers while the Quakes are just behind with 44. In all likelihood, two of those three teams will make the playoffs.

They can even clinch this weekend.

Dallas travel to face the Colorado Rapids on Sunday (7:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info) then host Sporting Kansas City on Decision Day (4 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+, DAZN). Will they get the points they need?
