Montreal Impact, Minnesota United each set MLS record for fewest fouls in a game

The Montreal Impact didn’t get a win this weekend but they did set a record — one they had to themselves for all of one day.

The Impact committed just one foul in their 2-1 loss to the LA Galaxy on Saturday, setting the mark for the fewest in league history.

Remarkably, the very next day, Minnesota United also finished a game with only one foul in their scoreless draw with Portland.

Just a day after Montreal Impact set the record for fewest fouls in an MLS match, Minnesota United tied it this afternoon.

Before this weekend, four teams shared the MLS record with only two fouls in a game: FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire in 2009, Colorado in 2011, and, most recently, the LA Galaxy in 2013.
