Two teams desperate to turn things around meet at Nippert Stadium in the first-ever regular season showdown between FC Cincinnati and the Vancouver Whitecaps Saturday night.
FC Cincinnati (5-16-2) are trying to erase a three-match losing streak after dropping a 2-1 decision to Toronto FC last Saturday at BMO Field. Nick DeLeon opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Jozy Altidore made it 2-0 with a stunning strike five minutes into the second half. Emmanuel Ledesma pulled the visitors to within a goal in the 58th minute, but an equalizer was not to be had.
The Whitecaps (4-11-9) extended a winless streak to nine games with a 0-0 draw against Minnesota United at Allianz Field Saturday. Vancouver defended in a low block and had quality chances on counters, but couldn't put a ball past Vito Mannone, who was forced into five saves. Maxime Crepeau made one save in a clean sheet to secured a share of the points.
