Philadelphia Union Homegrown Brenden Aaronson leads YSC graduating class

Brenden Aaronson has turned heads this season as a regular starter for the Philadelphia Union and one of the top young players in MLS.

He’s also still only 18 years old, and last week donned not just a gameday uniform, but a cap and gown as he led the 2019 graduating class at YSC Academy, the high-tech, soccer-centric high school operated as part of the Union’s academy system.

Last Friday Aaronson addressed the parents, family members and friends in attendance at YSC as he and 23 others got their diplomas. A day later the Homegrown wore his academic cap along with his match gear on the pitch at Talen Energy Stadium as he and the rest of his class were honored before the Union’s 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls, in which he started and played 53 minutes.

Aaronson has been training with the US Under-23 men's national team this week under the leadership of Jason Kreis.
