Toronto FC's Jozy Altidore continues torrid pace to start 2019

Jozy Altidore - goal celebration - 2019-04-06

Jozy Altidore looks like he's enjoying Toronto FC's 2019 season â€” and his goal-a-game pace, which he stayed on today in a 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire, is a big reason they've remained unbeaten four matches in.

Altidore's first-half header was assisted by Alejandro Pozuelo, TFC's newly-signed Designated Player, and showed the potential potency of the duo as they continue to learn each other's rhythms and runs. After missing out on Toronto's opener as an unused sub, Altidore has scored in three straight matches — in a sub turn at New England on March 17, and at home in his first start of the season last weekend against NYCFC

But his goal against the Fire wasn't even his finest moment of the match. His run toward goal in the 76th minute, finished with his pass across the face of goal, was headed in by Jonathan Osorio to secure the draw and keep their string of matches without losses rolling on.

Altidore and TFC will put both streaks on the line next Saturday against one of their keenest rivals — the Seattle Sounders they faced in two consecutive MLS Cups in 2016 and 2017.
