Philadelphia Union's Sergio Santos suffers hip injury, out four weeks

Sergio Santos - Philadelphia Union

No rest for the weary.

Amid a less than ideal start to the season for the Philadelphia Union, new striker Sergio Santos has suffered a grade 2 hip flexor strain and will be out four weeks. The club will already be without star midfielder Marco Fabian, who is suspended following a red card last weekend.

Santos appeared in both of Philly's matches to start the season as a substitute, tallying 39 total minutes.

The 24-year-old arrived with the Union from Chilean Primera Division club Audax Italiano this winter. Santos scored nine goals across 16 league appearances during the 2018 season for Audax, leading the club in scoring and tying for 10th in the league. He helped the club qualify for the 2018 Copa Sudamericana and reach the Copa Chile final, where the side finished as runners-up to Palestino.

The Union next face Atlanta United on the road Sunday (7 pm ET | TV & streaming info).
