Atlanta United Midfielder Miguel Almirón Voted MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS™
 
NEW YORK (Thursday, May 3, 2018) – Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almirón was voted the MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS™ by members of the media for the month of April of the 2018 MLS season.
 
The 24-year-old Designated Player tallied a league-leading five goals to go along with two assists, propelling Atlanta United to an undefeated 3-0-1 April record. This season Almirón is tied for first in MLS with six goals and his four assists are tied for fourth-most in 2018. Atlanta currently maintains a seven-game unbeaten streak and sits second in the Eastern Conference with 19 points (6-1-1 overall record).
 
Almirón began the month with an assist (Watch Assist) and a pair of penalty kick goals (Watch Goal) in Atlanta’s 5-0 victory over the Los Angeles Football Club on April 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Watch Goal). The Paraguay National Team midfielder followed that performance with an assist on Chris McCann’s goal in a 2-2 draw with New York City FC on April 15 (Watch Assist).
 
Named 2017 MLS Newcomer of the Year, the midfielder continued a strong run of play with a penalty kick goal in Atlanta’s 2-0 victory over the LA Galaxy at StubHub Center on April 21 (Watch Goal). Almirón rounded out the month with his second multi-goal performance of the season in a 4-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on April 28 at home. A penalty kick goal in the 70th minute served as the equalizer (Watch Goal), while Almirón’s 83rd-minute score put the match out of reach for Atlanta (Watch Goal).
 
Atlanta United return to action on Saturday, May 5 to face the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park (8:30 p.m. ET, TSN1 / TSN3 / TSN4 / TSN5 / ESPN+).
