LA Galaxy's Alan Gordon added to US roster to replace injured Jordan Morris

Alan Gordon - LA Galaxy - August 27, 2016

LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon was added on Tuesday to the US national team’s training camp roster ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Mexico at MAPFRE Stadium (7:45 pm ET; FS1, Univision).

Gordon was called in to replace injured Seattle Sounders forward and MLS Rookie of the Year finalist Jordan Morris, who suffered a hamstring strain in the first half of Seattle’s Western Conference Semifinal second leg at FC Dallas on Sunday.

Gordon, who will arrive in Columbus later on Tuesday, has two career appearances for the USMNT. His most notable cap came in October 2012, when he delivered the assist on Eddie Johnson’s 90th minute game-winner in the USA’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying win at Antigua & Barbuda.

The 35-year-old target striker made 22 appearances and seven starts in the regular season, scoring three goals and notching one assist. He started all three of LA’s Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs matches, recording one goal and two assists before the Galaxy were eliminated by Colorado on Sunday.

The US will begin their Hexagonal slate on Friday against Mexico before heading to Costa Rica to take on the Ticos in their second match of the final round of CONCACAF qualifying on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
