Nearly two years since he underwent surgery to repair an injured ACL, Joe Gyau is almost back to full speed.

The Borussia Dortmund and US international attacker hasn’t played since December 2014, when he went under the knife to repair a torn ACL. As detailed by FourFourTwo’s Paul Tenorio, the 24-year-old winger is now nearing full match fitness for the first time since his operation, which came as he was emerging with the USMNT and edging closer to a significant role with Dortmund’s first-team.

“A lot of people didn’t think I’d be able to come back and play high-level football,” Gyau told Tenorio. “That’s not even my goal to prove people wrong. I knew I’d come back. My goal is just to come back and find my way in the soccer world and reach my full potential. Everything else will come.”
