The revelation that Jordan Morris would train with Werder Bremen may have made all the headlines Tuesday, but the former Stanford star isn’t the only young American headed to Germany.
US U-20 national team member Joel Sonora is moving from the youth system at Boca Juniors to Stuttgart, according to a tweet from Marca reporter Arch Bell.
Interesting move. USYNTer @Sojoel1 leaves Boca Juniors for Europe. Says he has joined German club Stuttgart.— Arch Bell (@ArchBell) January 5, 2016
The Dallas, Texas native and son of former Dallas Burn and Boca Juniors player Diego Sonora was a member of the 2015 U-20 World Cup team and USA’s 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship team, playing in all three matches and scoring against Honduras. He has featured prominently in Boca’s academy program since 2012.
