ST. PETERSBURG, Russia – Ethan Horvath and Molde FK finished as Europa League Group A winners after rallying for a 1-1 draw at Ajax on Thursday night.
The 20-year-old US Under-23 goalkeeper made two saves look easy, but also got help from the woodwork once in each half. With Fabian Johnson's Borussia Monchengladbach ousted from Champions League on Tuesday night, Horvath is likely to be the only current American international in action when the UEFA tourney knockout stages begin in February.
Horvath & Co. now hold a seeded position for the Round of 32 draw, which will take place on Monday.
Horvath's U-23 teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers made his first senior-team roster with Tottenham in their 4-1 rout of Monaco that ensured their top spot in Group J. Carter-Vickers didn't see action, however.
