Landon Donovan - Unicef Match for Children - November 14, 2015

Former MLS legend Landon Donovan came off the bench and assisted on his team’s only goal in a high-profile UNICEF Match for Children exhibition held for charity at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Donovan, who was brought on by his manager Carlo Ancelotti to replace Clarence Seedorf, dished the assist to fellow CONCACAF great Dwight Yorke in the 67th minute for the Rest of the World’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to the “Great Britain and Ireland” side captain by Donovan’s ex-LA Galaxy teammate David Beckham.

Paul Scholes opened the scoring off a Beckham cross (13th minute) and Michael Owen netted twice (63rd and 85th minute) to pace the “Great Britain and Ireland” team which was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson in front of 75,381 fans.

One of the most memorable moments from the event came with 15 minutes remaining when Beckham was replaced by his 16-year-old son, Brooklyn Beckham.
