Montreal Impact striker Didier Drogba wins Etihad Airways Player of the Month award for September

As it turned out, awarding the Etihad Airways Player of the Month honors was easy.

Montreal Impact striker Didier Drogba has only been in the league for a little over the month, but after scoring seven goals in five games, he is already racking up the awards, collecting 44.89 percent of the total votes to claim the top spot in MLS for September.

Drogba started the month off with a hat-trick against the Chicago Fire as the Impact got a huge win to help their playoff chances. After a scoreless game in LA, he scored goals in back-to-back games against the New England Revolution and the Fire.

To top it off, Drogba scored a brace in spectacular fashion to help the Impact secure their position above the red line.

The MVP of the Seattle Sounders is clearly Obafemi Martins, and the star striker finished second in the voting with 25.24 percent of the vote.

After taking home the award in July and August, Toronto FC striker Sebastian Giovinco was going for his third consequtive POTM. He collected 14.5 percent of the vote to finish third.

Kei Kamara of Columbus Crew SC (8.43 percent) and the New England Revolution's Lee Nguyen (6.95 percent) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
