As more and more young talent emerges in MLS, determining who's the best of the best becomes harder and harder.
Except, it seems, this year, when Seattle Sounders right back DeAndre Yedlin was voted overwhelmingly as #1 in MLSsoccer.com's annual "24 Under 24," presented by adidas, recognizing the top 24 players in MLS under the age of 24.
It's difficult to imagine any player but Yedlin actually ending up on top. After his performance for the US national team at the World Cup, his All-Star nod, his sale to Tottenham Hotspur, and his continued improvement for the Sounders, it would've been almost farcicial if the Sounders academy product wasn't ranked No. 1.
He now joins the likes of former Seattle goleadorFredy Montero (2010), former Dallas winger Brek Shea (2011), current Vancouver forward Darren Mattocks (2012), and Portland playmaker Darlington Nagbe (2013) as players who have finished atop the "24 Under 24" ranking. It's a Who's Who of young talent in MLS over the past five years.
