While both the US national team and Germany have constantly reiterated that they will play for a win in Thursday’s Group G finale (noon ET, ESPN, match preview), USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann did reveal his practical side when speaking with ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap after arriving at the stadium.
“We want to get that final point – at least one point – no matter what the conditions are,” Klinsmann said. “Snow or rain or extreme heat: We will make the best out of it. We are so pumped up.”

Heavy rains in and around Recife caused difficulties for fans and journalists traveling to the Arena Pernambuco on Thursday morning, but Klinsmann said he did not expect the wet conditions to favor either team.
“Germany is used to playing in rain, we are used to playing in rain – it’s even,” Klinsmann said. “The field will be very fast, so it’s going to be very difficult to have a clean, technical game.”
