GUADALAJARA, Mexico – American midfielder Michael Farfan’s short stint at Cruz Azul could be close to an end, with Goal.com reporting that sporting director Agustín Manzo has said the player has no future at the club.
Manzo stated Wednesday that while Farfan would be leaving, LA Galaxy loanee Jose Villarreal would remain at the club, according to the same story. Villarreal's loan is for the duration of the 2014 MLS season.
Farfan, who left the Philadelphia Union over the offseason to join the Liga MX side, told MLSsoccer.com earlier this month that he was happy at La Máquina and was looking to make headway in the Apertura 2014. He signed a three-year deal back in December 2013.
There have been widespread changes this offseason at Cruz Azul, with Ascenso MX outfit Cruz Azul Hidalgo, formerly Cruz Azul’s reserve team, being relocated to Zacatepec and no longer pertaining to the institution. 


Former MLS midfielder Rafael Baca and Villarreal had spent the majority of last season training with the second-division side.
