American Exports: Club Tijuana's Alejandro Guido scores in Dorados' Copa MX win over Chivas

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Club Tijuana midfielder Alejandro Guido headed in the first goal in Dorados de Sinaloa's 2-1 win over Chivas Guadalajara on Wednesday in Copa MX play. The victory qualifies Tijuana's second-division affiliate for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Guido (above) – who also scored last weekend for Club Tijuana’s Under-20s – netted from close range in the 16th minute, before making way for American teammate Stevie Rodriguez at halftime at Estadio Omnilife.

Speedy winger Paul Arriola also saw playing time for Dorados, going 63 minutes in the victory, which secured first place in Group 6 with one round of matches remaining.

It was a less positive night for Sonny Guadarrama, who went 83 minutes in Necaxa’s 4-1 loss at Celaya. The result puts Los Rayos out of the competition.

Chiapas’ Gabriel Farfan continued his gradual acclimatization to Mexican soccer, playing the full 90 minutes in his side’s 3-0 loss at Veracruz. Chiapas were already out of contention for the knockout rounds before the match.

Finally, former US U-20 international Alonso Hernandez completed the game for Monterrey in their 3-2 home loss to Pachuca, although Los Rayados had already qualified out of Group 1.
