There's another World Cup stadium fatality to report with just six months until the 2014 edition kicks off in Brazil.
Just a few weeks after two people died in an accident at the Sao Paulo stadium under construction for the 2014 World Cup, Saturday morning reports indicate another construction casualty in the city of Manaus, which will host the USMNT's second Group G match against Portugal on June 22.
Reuters identified the victim as 22-year-old Marcleudo de Melo Ferreira, who died in a Manaus hospital in the early hours of the morning "after falling off the roof" of the Arena Amazonia stadium. Other reports point out that the construction is behind schedule and crews are working around the clock to meet deadlines.
It's the second death at the Manaus stadium site after a 49-year-old also lost his life on the night shift in March. Three of the 12 World Cup stadiums in Brazil have seen fatal incidents, including one at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia in June 2012.
The other matches scheduled to be held in Manaus next summer are: England vs. Italy (June 14), Cameroon vs. Croatia (June 18) and Honduras vs. Switzerland (June 25).
