Good thing for the USMNT that a berth to the 2014 FIFA World Cup is already in hand.
That's because Jurgen Klinsmann's squad could be facing its final two CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers without the team's regular central midfield pairing of Michael Bradley and Jermaine Jones.
A Sunday report in Germany's Sport Bild reveals that Jones will miss up to six weeks due to meniscus surgery and the player himself told the publication that the knee trouble has been the cause of persistent pain.
Meanwhile, Bradley is still overcoming an ankle injury suffered before a September qualifier in Costa Rica and it's unclear whether he'll be back to full fitness in time for the close of World Cup qualifying on Oct. 11 (vs. Jamaica) and Oct. 15 (at Panama).
The USMNT clinched a berth to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil after defeating Mexico 2-0 on Sept. 10 in Columbus.
