New England's Diego Fagundez takes the ball past New York's Digao

Is New York Red Bulls defender Digão is on his way out?

According to a report from Big Apple Soccer from the weekend, the Brazilian — brother of Real Madrid star Kaká — has been cut by the Red Bulls and among other indications, his nameplate has been removed from his locker.

Signed in September 2012, the defender has not featured in any regular season games for the Red Bulls, this season or last, in large part due to nagging injuries. This season, a heel injury has sidelined him. In all, he made a cameo one minute appearance in the MLS Cup playoffs November 8 against D.C. United, the extent of his competitive minutes with New York.

The Red Bulls declined to comment on the report when contacted by MLSsoccer.com.
