David Beckham walks into a courtyard, and a stampede of human bodies breaks out. That's pretty much how it went down as Beckham was en route to a footballing appearance in Shanghai on Thursday.

Beckham, who called an end to his playing days just last month, is in China fulfulling duties as an ambassador to soccer for the world's most populous country this week and has made appearances across various cities since arriving in Asia on Tuesday.

Thursday's stampede occurred prior to an appearance at a university training session. Seven people were reportedly injured and taken to a local hostpital. Beckham was forced to cancel the appearance due to the fact he couldn't make his way through the massive crowds between himself and the training fields.

Come on, guys, it's only David Beckham. There's no need to knock people over and trample them just to try and get a picture of or autograph from the guy. We had him here in America for six years during his time in Major League Soccer, and we never stepped on fallen folks just to get close to him.
