American Exports: Stuart Holden hints at longer Sheffield Wednesday loan stay

Stuart Holden cameos for Bolton

AMSTERDAM – Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden has hinted that his Sheffield Wednesday loan stay could soon be extended through the end of the Championship season.

The 27-year-old, who recently began contract extension talks with Bolton, has made three league starts thus far for the Owls. His loan spell is slated to end next Wednesday.

"I have two games left and we will re-evaluate it at that point," Holden told reporters on Monday. "There's a possibility I could be here until the end of the season."

The US international is busy working his way back to full match fitness, having missed the better part of two years with a troublesome knee injury.

"I'm happy the games are fast and furious," said Holden. "I feel fitter and stronger with every game."

The former Houston Dynamo star continues the journey back to his best form when Sheffield Wednesday visit Blackpool on Tuesday.
