AMSTERDAM – Everton netminder Tim Howard rallied from an early mistake to backstop a 2-1 rally at Newcastle on Wednesday.
After his defense made a hash of dealing with a second-minute long ball, the US star was caught creeping off his line by Papiss Cissé's bloop header.
Howard eventually recorded four saves to enjoy consecutive EPL away victories for the first time since April of 2011. His late stop on Davide Santon preserved the points.
The win, Everton's third in the last four matches, lifted them into fifth place.
