The Playback: Relive San Jose and DC's thrilling slugfest

The Playback: Week 8.5 - SJ v DC

What was the match of the year thus far in MLS?

Dwayne De Rosario started the scoring barely 10 minutes into the match, and the goals didn't stop flowing in San Jose on Wednesday night, as the Quakes and D.C. United combined for a 5-3 slugfest won by the home side.

Steven Lenhart had a brace for Frank Yallop's team, his second is two games, and Chris Wondolowski maintained his blistering early season form with a double of his own, bringing his season total to 10 goals just nine games into the season. And although the scoreline seemed to indicate D.C. United had been run out of Buck Shaw Stadium, this one was very nearly a different match altogether.

After falling behind 3-1, Ben Olsen's team pulled one back through Daniel Woolard and forced Quakes goalkeeper Jon Busch into a number of crucial stops – the most impressive of which denied De Rosario's spectacular bicycle kick – to preserve his side's lead and secure all three points. And, of course, the scoring didn't end there.
