American Exports: Edu Man of the Match as Rangers roll

AMSTERDAM — Maurice Edu put in a Man of the Match performance on Tuesday, punctuated by an assist on the insurance goal as Scottish leaders Rangers blanked Kilmarnock 2-0 at Ibrox.

Carlos Bocanegra also went the distance for the victors, with Alejandro Bedoya making it a trio of US internationals in light blue with his 75th-minute inclusion. The home side finally broke the ice through Nikica Jelavić in the 64th minute, and two minutes later, Edu muscled his way into the area to set up Gregg Wylde for a tap-in.

Rangers now sit seven points clear of second-place rivals Celtic, having played one more game.

In nearby England, Robbie Findley worked a hard-luck 73 minutes of relief in Nottingham Forest's painful 5-1 defeat at Burnley.

The former Real Salt Lake forward saw his inch-perfect assisting pass squandered just before the break and blasted a shot off the post after it. The Reds, who now own the leakiest defense in the league, dropped to 20th through nine games with their fourth loss in five.
