The US, having finished first in Group C, will take on the runner up in Group D. Despite losing to Germany in their third group-stage match, Ghana finished second behind Germany, setting up an incredible rematch of the memorable US-Ghana group match in 2006.
That game, won 2-1 by the Black Stars in Nuremburg, was the coming out party for US attacker Clint Dempsey, who scored the US' only goal. But his powerful strike was canceled out by goals from Haminu Dramani and Stephen Appiah, the latter a penalty called on Oguchi Onyewu.
So, revenge is in the air for the Americans, while the Ghanaians move on as the only African team still in the tournament, barring a miraculous result for the Ivory Coast in Group G.
