Real Salt Lake 3, Galaxy 0 -- quote sheet

REAL SALT LAKE 3, LOS ANGELES GALAXY 0

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON

On the game:
"I thought we did fairly well in the first half, I actually liked the addition of Kyle Martino, I thought he brought a lot of energy to the team. For about 60 minutes I thought [John] Wolyniec did well for us, but then I thought he kind of lost the energy that we needed at that position. The bottom line is we've got no forwards to go to. They are all either injured or with the national team. It was difficult to make changes in the second half. Obviously, I am extremely disappointed with this loss, I can't put it any other way."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER KYLE MARTINO

On his first game with the Galaxy:
"I am so excited to be here. Being a part of a championship organization and this facility, this coaching staff and these players, it is an amazing feeling. It is something that I secretly wished for on draft day and that I missed. For me to be here at this point in my career, I feel like it is an unbelievable opportunity and I want to thank Alexi [Lalas] and the staff for having faith in me and bringing me in here."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER TYRONE MARSHALL

On the mindset of the team:
"We haven't won in a while now and we need to come out and show the fans that we can get a result at home. We need to get a result now. Going down 3-0 like we did, that is an embarrassment. I haven't lost here with the Galaxy like this at home. That has always been one of the characteristics of this team and I don't know where we go from here. We just have to dig deeper and show the true character of this team."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER KEVIN HARTMAN

On the game:
"We need to make sure that we do everything that we possibly can as professionals to try and right the ship. It is frustrating and embarrassing, that is for sure. We need to come out with better efforts week in and week out."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER KYLE VERIS

On the game:
"We were playing with them, but then when we gave up that early goal I think it dropped some people's heads and maybe they were thinking, 'Here we go again.' We kept with them and then we were just unlucky getting something in the back of the net. That happens, this is soccer."

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER

On earning first win of 2006:
"I told these guys before the game, that I would pick them all over again. I think they are all great soccer players. I know that we can play and I told them to just go out, relax, enjoy it and play. I think we play better when we are relaxed and we proved that tonight."

on feeling first win of season:
"Obviously there has been a lot of pent-up frustration; there are a variety of things that go through your head. But the bottom line is I have believed in these guys from the beginning, and I am hoping that we can get something going. I know it is not going to be easy."

REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER CAREY TALLEY

On the game:
"There is no feeling like winning. I think that we came out in this game, we knew some of our higher-profile palyers were not going to be here, and we came out and showed that we were a better team. We deserved that 3-0 win. That was for the people of Salt Lake to thank them for believing in us and show them that we still believe in them."
