FC Dallas to broadcast all 32 games on English and Spanish radio

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas announced today that for the second consecutive season, all 32 regular season games will be broadcast on both Spanish and English radio. KFCD 990 AM, which carried FCD games in English in 2005, today switched formats and will now be the Spanish Radio partner for the Hoops in 2006. KXEB 910 AM, part of the Air America network, begins their first season broadcasting FC Dallas games in English. All games can be listened to live on radio and on www.FCDallas.net.


In addition to broadcasting all games, each station will also air a one-hour FC Dallas radio show throughout the 2006 MLS season. Jesus Padilla and Carlos Alvarado, who enter their eleventh season as the club's Spanish-language broadcast talent, will host "Esta Semana con el FC Dallas" on 990 AM every Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. (CT), beginning with the first show on Tuesday, April 4. The location of the show will be announced at a later date.


FC Dallas English radio voice Ray Canevari will again host the hour-long "FC Dallas Weekly" radio show on 910 AM every Thursday from 7-8 p.m. (CT), beginning with the first show on Thursday, March 30 live from Dave and Buster's inside the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. All the games and FC Dallas Weekly shows can also be listened to in San Antonio (KTXX 103.5 FM) and Austin, Texas (KOKE 1600 AM).


Both shows will feature live interviews with FCD player and coaches, other MLS personalities, as well as national and local media members. In addition to radio, "FC Dallas Weekly" and "Esta Semana con el FC Dallas" can also be heard on www.FCDallas.net.


Alvarado and Padilla are one of the longest tenured tandems in MLS broadcasting. Alvarado, born in Usulutan, El Salvador, began his career as a sports broadcaster 20 years ago and has been the team's play-by-play voice since it's inception in 1996. He did play-by-play for the Salvadorian soccer championship from 1987 until 1990 and has worked on numerous national and local radio shows from the Dallas area.


Padilla also enters his 11th season as color analyst for Dallas games. Born in Mexico, Padilla also has a weekly column in El Diario la Estrella from Fort Worth and does the daily sports updates on 97.1 FM. This month, he concluded his 15th year of the popular radio show Impacto Deportivo and next month debuts the television version of the popular show.


Canevari, who enters his second season as the English play-by-play voice, has played and coached soccer for 35 years and brings 22 years of broadcast experience to the job. He has previously been the voice of SMU men's and women's soccer and recently completed his 11th season as the radio voice of SMU women's basketball. In addition to his duties with SMU, Canevari has worked the past 10 years as a sports anchor for the USA Radio Network. During his tenure with the USA Radio Network, he has covered hundreds of professional sporting events including the NFL playoffs, the Stanley Cup finals and the 1998 World Cup in Paris, France.


Details of the 2006 FC Dallas local television schedule will be announced in the coming days.


FC Dallas opens the 2006 Major League Soccer season on Saturday, April 1 when they host the Chicago Fire at 3:00 p.m. CT at Pizza Hut Park in a game televised live nationally on ABC Sports.
