FC Dallas 1, Galaxy 0 -- quote sheet

FC DALLAS 1, LOS ANGELES GALAXY 0

FC DALLAS HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On playing down a man for so long:
"It's always hard to play when you are a man down. You're always going to have to survive some stuff, but you get organized, you get behind the ball and tonight we survived one that hit the crossbar and a couple of other near things. I thought that we defended very well and I wouldn't call it comfortable, but it was as comfortable as you can be when you play with 10 men for 45 minutes."

On his team's resolve:
"Last year, our first win (at Pizza Hut Park) against Chicago in the Open Cup, we went a man down and everybody hung in together and ended up getting a result, so that was a little bit similar. We kept a clean sheet, I thought they defended magnificently tonight, first half and second half and it's a great three points."

On the return of Richard Mulrooney:
"I'm very, very happy to get him back in and I thought that he did very well. He's a good player and he hasn't lost any of it. He's smart, gets (the ball) and moves it, and gets himself into good spots, kept things going and clogged up holes when he needed to.

FC DALLAS FORWARD CARLOS RUIZ

On getting the win:
"It was difficult for us, playing with 10 men, but in the second half we played like men and we fought for three points and we got them, which is nice for all of us and the fans."

On whether or not it was special to get his first goal against his former club:
"It's more special because my team won three points with 10 men. That is what's special, not scoring against L.A."

FC DALLAS MIDFIELDER RONNIE O'BRIEN

On playing down a man:
"We just wanted to keep it solid until we got to halftime. (We then) regrouped, knew it was going to be a tough game and just sat in, soaked up some pressure and tried to hit them on the break."

On his near goal from the halfway line:
"I'll get one one day, I've been close. I've had five or six of those since I got to this league and I've hit the bar, hit the post. I'll get one one day, don't worry."

FC DALLAS MIDFIELDER RICHARD MULROONEY

On making his return:
"It felt how I thought would. It was comfortable and I think that was the next step in my progress, getting some game time. The practices are fine, but to get some time on the field, there is nothing like that was the first step tonight."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON

On the game:
"Much better than in the last two to three weeks. I think our ball movement, our organization was better. Very pleased with Ugo Ihemelu at the right back position, thought he did very, very well there. With the exception of the one shot in the first 45 minutes which ended up in the goal, I thought we had the better chances in the match. We hit the post in the second half and traded a couple of opportunities but Dallas played defensively well. They the game and did what they had to do to get the result.

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER NED GRABAVOY

On entering the game:
"Obviously, when (Herculez Gomez) went down unexpected with a knock to his knee, I wanted to come in and provide a spark. We've got to find a way to get one in the second half somewhere. We've got to put ourselves in a position to win. We at least have to get one goal in the second half. I don't think anybody in here is too happy."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER LANDON DONOVAN

On the team's effort tonight:
"It was a good effort but it's not about effort in this business. It would've been nice to go off a little bit better."

On the difference between Saturday's game and Wednesday's:
"It's just attitude. We're proud. There's not such a disparity between teams where you should ever get blown out like that. We know that there was not a just reason to lose like that. We had to give a better effort. It's still not good enough but at least it's better."

On the positives from the game:
"There's not a ton, you still lose the game. If we're going to compare every game to the New England game, every game is going to be great. We're defending champions so it's not good enough to say we only lost 1-0. We were good enough to at least get one point out of this game."
