'Cell Phones for Soldiers' cell phone drive

Donate your old phone to help U.S. troops stay connected with friends and family.

The New York Red Bulls are proud to kick off the season on April 8 vs. the New England Revolution with a cell phone drive to benefit Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is an organization that aims to raise money for prepaid calling cards for troops overseas by trading in old cell phones. Through generous donations and the recycling of used cell phones from drop-off sites across the country, thousands of calling cards have already been distributed to soldiers in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

The New York Red Bulls are proud to assist in this worthy organization. Bring your old cell phones to the stadium on opening night as the club takes on the New England Revolution and help the troops call home!

Here is what the organizers have to say:
My name is Brittany Bergquist. I am 15 years old. My brother Robbie (14) and I are co-founders of Cell Phones for Soldiers.

I am proud to announce that thanks to the generosity of the New York Red Bulls, we will be collecting used cell phones and monetary donations at the Red Bulls' opening home game on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET start time) at each of the entrances. We need your help letting people know to bring their used cell phones to Giants Stadium before the game.

People can also go to our website www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com and download free postage for a used cell phone from the US Postal Service.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization that provides pre-paid telephone calling cards and phone systems for the troops deployed around the world. We live in Norwell, Mass., and collect used cell phones from over 4000 drop-off sites around the country and recycle them to raise money for the service people.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a registered (501c3) organization. We have raised close to $1 million and have sent over 85,000 pre-paid calling cards to troops all around the world.
